Carlos Barahona PossolloCarlos Pedro Barahona Fernandes Possolo de Carvalho is a Portuguese painter born in 1967, who explores myth and history in a masterly style that contrasts with his unabashed depictions of intimate situations. The present work could, beyond the situation it depicts, be considered autoportrayal. Possollo’s beautifully rendered work depicts bawdy, fully engorged versions of mythological creatures — especially fauns — that seem true to how the gods supposedly behaved. I generally shy away from more explicit images as I curate the @ganymedesrocks tumblr blog, perhaps, with a few punctual exceptions throughout the year, such as New Year, Valentine, Mardi Gras, Pride and Halloween, but I decided this to be still into acceptible limits… The Greeks saw wine arrive to their table under pretty similar conditions. So, it being time for libations… Cheers!
